IT’S EDUCATIONAL TIME, again!

It is with pleasure and pride that today we announce the completion of our first animation course for high school students!

During the last year Alessio taught an animation course to a class of 13 high school students at the I. I. S. Parentucelli-Arzelà of Sarzana (Italy), with the help of prof. Sandra Cargiolli and Giovanni Campi for the education part, and the technical support of Mathiew Lewis from Toon Boom Animation.

In just a few months the students have learned from scratch how cartoons are made and what lies behind what we see on the screen, they also tried out the basics of drawing and animation, managing to fully realize two animated short films, which you can watch here below.

Let us present to you …

THE EAGLE ABOVE THE STORM

A young girl who wants to become a professional soccer player must face difficulties and push herself beyond her limits to overcome every obstacle and achieve her goal (pun intended!), just like an eagle navigating the storm to fly even higher.

BACK TO THE CINEMA

Two friends go to the cinema, one is a film-lover enthusiast while the other has just been dragged there against his will! But when the movie starts both are catapulted into famous scenes from classics to anime, and enjoy themselves so much that at the end of the screening they immediately buy new tickets!

The short films are entirely made with Toon Boom Storyboard Pro.

Finally we hosted an official screening in the local cinema, Multisala Moderno of Sarzana, and the students’ excitement was at its highest ! They made a presentation, describing their work in steps to the audience, capturing their curiosity and amazement in front of all the work that needs to be done even for a few seconds of animation.

A huge congrats to the fantastic 13 students, they were incredibly focused on the activities proposed and very consistent during the whole year! Learning to use digital tools and the fundamental principles of animation being so young and in such a short time is no joke!

This is a course that Story Bards will keep bringing to high schools, to stimulate young artists, let them learn by having fun and to shine a light behind the scenes of cartoon animation.

A big thanks to I. I. S. Parentucelli-Arzelà of Sarzana, to prof. Sandra Cargiolli, to Giovanni Campi and to Andrea Pasciuti, who helped us with his catchy original soundtrack.

Have nice day Story People! ⭐️
